Creating A Thinking School - From Norway To Northern Ireland

In 2009, a pilot project was launched with a small number of primary schools in NI to develop the teaching of thinking skills in a concept called thinking schools, which had been developed originally by Kestrel Consultancy. Through the Kestrel network, contact was made with colleagues in Oslo and a successful application was made for funding to participate in a Regio Comenius Project with a shared focus.

The Reggio Comenius Project led by the North Eastern Education and Library Board’s Curriculum Advisory and Support Service in partnership with Oslo Education Authority and involving the external partners – Kestrel Consultancy and University of Oslo and six Northern Irish schools – Gorran PS, Randalstown Central PS, St MacNissi’s PS Newtownabbey, St Mary’s PS Bellaghy, St Mary’s PS Cushendall and William Pinkerton PS.,and four Oslo schools –
Bjørndal School, Disen School, Marienlyst School and Seterbråten School.

This film seeks to document how these results were actually achieved.
